While many folk were slugging it out up heartbreak hill for the City2Surf today, I was at Mosman with my chicks experiencing High Tea at The Boronia TeaRoom.
Set in a grand mansion with sweeping balconies and manicured gardens, the Boronia TeaRoom (formely Boronia House built in 1885) is a charming place to share this timeless tradition.
Thankfully after an extensive refurbishment, the house maintains a historical allure. Inside is light and fresh with crisp white interiors.
The selection of sweet and savoury treats are crafted by Belinda Franks Catering and the tea & coffee choices are supplied by T2.
The High tea packages include:
- Junior Devonshire High Tea $24pp
- Little Ladies High Tea $27pp
- Standard High Tea $45pp
- Sparkling Wine High Tea $55pp (includes a glass of chandon brut)
- Cocktail High Tea $55pp (includes a cocktail on arrival)
- Champagne High Tea $63 (includes a glass of moet & chandon champagne)
We ordered two conservative standard high teas (my friend was driving and I’m pregnant with my 2nd) and one little ladies for Allanah, my friend’s daughter.
The selection of savoury treats were an assortment of sandwiches (chicken, lettuce, mayo & Egg & Tuna, lettuce), slabs of grilled haloumi, and bite size fritters of pea & corn. All were average.
The sweets were a little better with vanilla macaron, plain & date flavoured scones with cream and jam, chocolate nut brownies, almond amaretti, crème brulee, and Lemon curd tarts.
The T2 tea was enjoyable – English Breakfast and Darjeeling between us.
Not the best High Tea I’ve experienced, but pleasant enough to share with good friends in beautiful surroundings.
