This cooking class is always a hit for so many reasons; it’s the last class of the year, there is always a tremendous lunch menu planned, and well, it’s Christmas – a time to be festive and gather with friends & family!

In this cooking class, Angela with share her love of creating an Italian Christmas lunch – where she will be influenced by her Southern Italian heritage, her extensive experience and knowledge gained from many years of study (Angela is a trained pastry chef), her work experience in commercial kitchens, and her overall love of Italian cooking & baking!

This Italian Christmas Lunch with include the following menu –‘Kingfish Carpaccio’ to start, ‘Nonna’s Lasagna’ for our main, and to end ‘Tiramisu! 

There will be morning tea served on arrival, a glass of bubbles to help along the way, and of course, a glass of vino for the sit-down lunch – where the fruits of labour will be devoured and enjoyed!

You will learn to bake three fantastic Italian dolci; Italian Christmas Cake, Zuccotto & Panforte.

Italian Christmas Cake (Romano Pangiallo) – The Italian version of a Christmas Cake! An ancient Roman fruit cake which dates back to 1st century!

Zuccotto – A domed sponge cake soaked with liqueur and filled with ricotta, cocoa and candied fruit. Created in the 16th century in Florence.

Panforte – a traditional Christmas sweet from Siena containing dried fruit & nuts.

This cooking class is mostly hands-on, with some demonstration.

Angela Palermo, founder & teacher of The Village Cooks, trained as a pastry chef and has worked for the likes of Rachel Grisewood, Sam Marineve, Lorraine Godsmark, and Andy Bunn. Her cooking and baking is heavily influenced by her Italian heritage and growing up in a family that grew its own food and created dishes from their own produce. Angela shares her love of simple, home-style cooking & baking with students at her cooking school, The Village Cooks, Sydney.

You will learn to bake three popular Italian dolci; Tiramisu, Cannoli & Panforte.

Tiramisu – you will learn how to make this classic Italian treat from scratch! We will bake our own savoiardi biscotti, and make mascarpone, along with Italian meringue.

Cannoli – Sicilian Cannoli are such a wonderful treat! You will learn how to make the cannoli shell and fill with flavoursome fresh homemade bufala ricotta.
